National agriculture statistics have shown that the average price per hectare of land in Uruguay, in some areas, has exceeded US$ 6,000.
In 2010 the amount of hectares sold has slightly increased compared to the previous year. San Jose and Colonia are the two departments that sold their land the most expensive. On the other extreme are Rivera, Salto and Artigas that barely surpass the US$ 1000 average price per hectare.
