The Project OH! La Barra comes from the creative mind of the Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott. Here upscale designer brand names will open their shops. This development includes a convention center and a 5 star boutique hotel. This 22 million dollars development will open its doors to the public in the summer of 2012-2013.
We will transform La Barra in the Saint Tropez of South America, said the CEO of the megaproject, Argentine Javier Stolovitsky. This complex will be located in La Barra, next to Punta del Este, Uruguay and will occupy 15,000 square meters and have frontage to route 10.
More than a year ago the idea was born of developing a shopping area in order to receive the most luxurious designer brands and have a 5 star hotel with a convention center.
In a first stage, 50 stores and service area will be built and they will occupy 7,500 square meters. Already confirmed are the restaurant Novecento and the Citi Bank that will be the exclusive bank of this complex. In the meantime, Prada, Dolce Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Channel are some of the recognized designer names at which the Argentinean – Uruguayan investor group is aiming at.
“OH La Barra will open its door for the season 2012-2013”, said the investors group’s CEO.
For the second stage, a boutique hotel of 50 rooms will be built. Negotiations with an international hotel chain are in progress.
A convention center and a parking lot for 150 vehicles are also part of the project. The group has begun negotiations with the local supermarkets to open a “fresh market”.
“We are looking forward to this project being the catalyst for this area to function year round; this project alone is going to generate 200 job openings”, said Stolovitsky.
