Golfing in Uruguay, part 1

Uruguay has two golf courses in Montevideo, Club de Golf del Cerro and Club de Golf del Uruguay; one in Canelones (near Montevideo), La Tahona Golf Club; one at Fray Bentos (Rio Negro); three around Punta del Este: Cantegril Golf Club, Club de Golf del Lago and La Barra Golf Club; one in Colonia, the Sheraton Golf Resort, and finally, the Four Seasons Golf Resort at Carmelo.

No matter what your skill level and regardless of your handicap, you will be thrilled to learn that in Montevideo, and throughout the country, there are numerous 9- and 18-hole golf courses for your enjoyment. A few courses call for being a member, while some don’t. Nearly all have a dress code: trousers or shorts, golf footwear, no swimsuits, no t-shirts and no sweatpants. According to the course, you will find golf carts available for rent. Some golf courses also provide caddies services. In case you play with a handicap, some golf clubs ask for handicap accreditation.

The Four Seasons Golf course is found in one of Uruguay's finest winery area and merely a 3-hour drive from Montevideo.
This course has a excellent variety of hazards. The service is fantastic, exactly like all the resorts' amenities. This is a "must play" round of golf regardless if you are traveling from Buenos Aires or Montevideo, undoubtedly the ideal course in Uruguay and one of the greatest in South America.
