The Uruguayan Meat Producers Association received with great optimism the EU resolution that allows Uruguay to export meat from feedlot cattle.
The association’s director Enrique Roig states this is very good news since they have been waiting for this. This resolution was expected on October, so it was a great surprise.
The association (AUPCIN) is already beginning the paperwork for the authorization of the pens, which can be awarded by DINAMA.
Roig considers that this possibility that just opened up is fundamental for the livestock system and for the meat industry. He points out that it is the product of traceability, despite the fact that it was difficult to implement it is what has allowed Uruguay to participate in this quota.
